Hi, I am a new indie dev, one of many. Here is a small part of my story.

What is game development to me?

I have always liked video games, but that is not what drove me to my decision, today. What I like the most about game development is to see how different components interact with each other and build a whole system which we can understand, and interact with, and then have fun with!

Who am I?

I just graduated college in Software Development, and I have been working as a Junior Software Developer for the past 3 years. However, I had no passion when I was at the job, but I always looked forward to go home and create something in my little free time slots. This led me to the decision I took, to quit my job right after finishing school and to have a shot at indie game development.

What will I do?

Being a new indie dev, I can’t say I really know what I am doing. However, I plan to learn as much as possible as I go along, and I have been reading a lot about this in the past years, It’s like I knew that I will end up here. I have learned a lot from other people’s stories, and I hope that others will learn from mine as well, good or bad.

How will I work?

I have used Unity before, and I really like the new features they are releasing, so I will stick to that. I have dabbled a little with Blender before too, and I even bought some courses on Udemy, so, Blender it is. Plus, I like free tools, who doesn’t? I even bought Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer, they are a very cheaper alternative to Photoshop and Illustrator, even if they have their limitations.

I plan to use social media heavily, as I have learned from others that it is very important. What good is an awesome game if you can’t reach your target audience? I will be working on my games full-time, although, my cat is gonna try to distract me all day, as you can see in the image above. I would like to get in contact with all of you, even help out other game developers with feedback! So if you’re into game dev as well, don’t hesitate to contact me!
